Garrett and Julia met in March 2025 in Madison while Garrett was working on an electrical job in Julia’s apartment building. Julia will tell you she was the first to notice the jolly, tall, handsome guy working by the elevator each day because he greeted her every morning with a smile. Garrett, on the other hand, says Julia won him over by bringing him sweet treats and even hiding candy on his workbench for him to find.

After weeks of talking in the hallways, by the elevator, and in the parking garage, the pair finally planned a first date at Café Zupas in April. Garrett's work project had him spend 3 months working in Julia’s building, so it gave them a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other more and more. Julia will tell you God sent Garrett right to her doorstep- she even has the Ring Doorbell video to prove it!

Despite some differences—Julia being a vegetarian and Garrett a longtime hunter and fisherman—they quickly discovered just how much they had in common. The couple bonded over their love for fresh salads, their deep faith for Jesus, loving nature, and watching re-runs of Survivor and The Office. Garrett took Julia on many adventures up north, even riding on an ATV for the first time and going out “Coyote calling” at night! Both Garrett and Julia love autumn, and they made the most of Fall 2025 together. Their adventures included visiting House on the Rock, hiking through the Arboretum, riding trains around North Freedom, touring the International Crane Foundation, and sampling all the fall flavors at Ski-Hi in Baraboo.

In December 2025 Garrett surprised Julia with a Promise Ring and the couple spent the holidays together and planning for the future. On February 21st Garrett took Julia for an ATV ride to Timm’s Hill and caught her off guard by getting down on one knee when they reached the lookout point. At the “highest point” in Wisconsin, Garrett popped the question, it was the perfect day and the best way to start the next chapter.

Both Garrett and Julia have a strong faith and trust in God’s timing, and with their mothers each praying God would bring them together with their soulmate in His time, all are thankful God has brought this loving couple together!
